YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR: Meet wonder-kid graphics designer Gbenga Adewale of Great View Designs

Gbenga Adewale is a new kid on the block; he’s the Lagos based Ogun State indigene helmsman of Great Views Designs, a motion and graphics designs outfit.  Looking at the graphics designs of series of jobs he has handled, will awe you at the debt of the creativity that goes into the finished artwork. Here’s what he has to say about what he does and how he draws his inspiration.
What motivated your interest in graphics designing?
The first thing I started doing is drawing, because I love drawing normally. Anytime I’m alone, I pick a pen and a paper and start sketching, drawing without looking at anything. After which I diverted into graphics designing.
How long have you been into graphics designing business?
I have been into the business for about 4 years now.
At what point did you decide to make graphics designing a profession?
When I started this graphics career, I initially saw it as just a normal thing, just doing designs for fun.  But when I started doing designs and when people see it, they marvel and say to me that I can even make money from it. Then my eyes opened that I can actually make it a business and a profession.
Did you go through any training as a graphics designer?

Yes I was with my boss, Adams GUD; he mentored me for about three years. Though I just left secondary school then and was looking for admission into university, so I wasn’t regular attending trainings until I decided I would focus more on learning all I can about graphics designing and then pursue academics later.
Don’t you see any challenge in putting your academics on the hold to pursue graphics designing?
I don’t think there’s going to be any challenge putting academics on the hold and focusing on being a graphics designer. Since I have a planned out strategy of what I want to do with my life, so school can come at any time.
How far are you willing to go with graphics design?
I wish to take it as far as my imagination and creativity can take me. It’s something I have chosen to do, so I will give it all that it takes to get to the peak of it.
Who are the people you have worked with?
I worked with some A-list artistes and have designed so many events branding and company logos. I did Itesiwaju Concert; part of Lagos at 50 celebration, Sisi Oge Beauty Pageant, Yung6ix’s Return of the King’s Concert and so many other jobs and I’m currently working with the Fresh Acts Music Awards team as a creative personnel.
What inspires you as a designer?
My environments, when I see things around me, I like to recreate, I look for ways of improving on with I see around me.
What software do you use?
I use CorelDraw and PhotoShop.
I would like people to know more about what I can do as a graphics designer, I want when people think about graphics I should come to their mind.
Where do you see yourself in a couple of years from now?
I’m working and aiming to place myself among the top 5 graphics designing companies.
