Fun, frills at Akure Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour

The fun train of the music concert of the foremost telecommunications, Globacom, aptly called Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour, had an explosive stopover in Akure, Ondo State on Saturday.

The event was held at the Golden Events Centre, Akure, featuring some of Nigeria’s most successful musicians in Nigeria, including the afro-pop singer, Yemi Eberechi Alade, popularly called Yemi Alade, whose late father hailed from Ondo State.

Other artistes who entertained at the massively attended event included the rave of the moment, Runtown; the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya; rappers’ delight, Chibuzor Nelson Azubike, who goes by the stage name Phyno; the king of the streets, Olamide, and the fast rising star of the Mavis group, Korede Bello.

Korede Bello opened the show, serenading Globacom subscribers with the best of his songs, including Mungo Park. He was followed by the ‘Mad Over You’ crooner, Runtown, who sent the hall wild with that monster hit and other club bangers.

Yemi Alade picked the baton, reminding the audience that she hails from Ondo State and that her late father would have been proud of her "homecoming" if he were to be alive.

"It may interest you all to know that this girl standing before you tonight is actually from this great State, Ondo State. My father was from Ondo state and I am happy that Glo brought me back home. If my daddy were to be alive today, he would be happy that his daughter is back home," she said.

She thanked the audience for showing her so much love saying, "I am your daughter and your sister and I am delighted coming to my roots, and I thank Globacom once again for this opportunity to see my people; I love you all."

Phyno took off from there and got the Yoruba-dominated crowd to sing every line of his tracks such as ConnectAlobamEzege, and Fada fada with him.

Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya, and the Kings of the Streets, Olamide, a.k.a. Baddo, took the show to the peak of excitement. While Timaya was both 'spiritual' and philosophical in his performance, Olamide took the show back to the streets and engaged the Omo Wobes in raw street lingo all through.

The show was anchored by two top actresses, Uche Jombo and Juliet Ibrahim, while the most celebrated Yoruba movie star, Odunlade Adekola, made celebrity guest appearance.  The sensational female jukebox master, DJ Lambo, dished out hot vibes to the delight of the crowd.

The show is next going to Kubwa, Abuja. Glo subscribers who are interested in attending the show are expected to have used N2,000 recharge card in data and voice,  and they  should send SMS "MUSIC ABUJA" to the short code 207.
